We continue to close in on the first round of season 2025. Our full club season launch is scheduled for April 5th. Planning for the day is well advanced. It will be open to all players and families to come along and see what's in store for season 2025 and have some fun with mixed activities and training sessions giving the chance to meet the head coaches and senior players, plus food and more on offer.
Our senior women will open the year with our first official game on Friday 11 April, under lights at 7pm at Bisinella Oval. This will be the women’s first match under our new co-coaches, Taiya Morrow and Keeley Hardingham. We wish them and the rest of the team well as they take the field against St. Josephs.
Our senior men have played two of their three practice matches. We started against Williamstown CYMS on a hot 15 March at Newport and continued against Melton Centrals at Melton last Saturday. Although several players were still unavailable with work or cricket commitments, our side nevertheless displayed some elements of what we can expect from the group this year. Our last match occurs this Saturday 29 April against Point Cook at Point Cook. That will be our last hitout before the first match away to St. Albans on 12 April.
Both senior men and women will headline a packed program of matches for our traditional ‘Spirit of ANZAC’ clash against Grovedale at Bisinella Oval on Saturday 26 April. Once again, this will be our most significant home game of the year and we want to see as many members and supporters as possible get down to the game to cheer all of our sides on.
If there are any boys or girls who are thinking about playing this year, whether in Auskick or an older grade, parents can contact the club to find out more about our junior programs. We’d love to see as many local juniors as possible playing in the Cats’ colours this year.
We are also close to finalising our social calendar for the year, including Past Players Day, Ladies Day, Peter Kelly Cup Day, the Winter Ball and Mega Raffle. There’ll be more to come on that over coming weeks.
Until next time, go Cats!
