TEAM WALKER

One of our junior teams has been named after Jack and Josh Walker who both left the Lara Football Club to pursue their careers at VFL/AFL level.

Jack Walker was part of the Lara Football Club Championship and Premiership side of 1929. jack was a tall player who possessed pace. He had a good mark and kick and was an excellent position player. he was predominantly left footed but could kick just as well with the right. These traits caught the eye of the Gellong VFL team and Jack then moved onto the Geelong Reserves VFL team. Subsequently, he was a part of the 1930 Reserves Premiership team. Then in 1931, Jack played as a wingman in the Geelong Premiership team. In total, Jack plkayed 76 games with Geelong from 1930-1936.

Pat Walker began helping out in the canteen at home games in the early 1970's. From then until the late 1980's she served on the Ladies Committee. From 1985-1989 Pat was the junior Coordinators Secretary as well as organising the junior section presentation nights. Pat recieved Life Membership in 1985

Josh Walker started his football career at lara and was selected to play in the Falcons TAC Cup. Josh caught the eye of Geelong scouts and was selected at pick number 23 in the 2012 rookie draft. Josh played 23 games at Geelong and was part of their 2012 Premiership team before being picked up by the Brisbane Lions in the 2015 draft.
