TEAM MATHIESON

The Mathieson family began their involvement with the Lara Football Club back in 1919. Their surname is such an integral part of the Lara Football Club, that we have attributed it to a variety of family members when we used this name for one of our junior teams.

These are only some of the Mathiesons who have played an important part in our history and club culture

Alan "Dicky" Mathieson- Dickys direct involvement with the Lara Football Club spanned nearly 40 years. During this time he was a player, a Premiership player and Vice President on the committtee- he undertook this role for 28 years.

Jim Mathieson Snr- as well as playing for the club, Jim was a a player/coach of the 1929 team which won the Premiership and Champions. Jim has sons and grandsons who also called Lara Football Club home:

Ian(Butch) Mathieson

Erine(Mickey) Mathieson- Ernie's son Daryl also played

William(Nugget) Mathieson

William(Nugget) Mathieson- played 236 games, achieved a Premeirship, was leading goalkicker, won a Best & Fairest and also coached. Nugget's son Peter, Paul and Jim Jnr(Shirty) were also involved in the club with Paul playing 309 games which included winning a Premiership, and Shirty playing 297 games where he won a Premiership and Best & Fairest. Shirty also went on to be a coach.

Rose Mathieson was involved in the Lara Football Club for many years through the 1950s -70s. she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and served in the canteen for many years. Rose received her Life membership in 1962
