July has come to a close, bringing with it the end of the home and away season for our Senior Women. It's been a standout year; in fact, our most successful season ever. With only 1 loss to date, the team are currently 2nd on the ladder, a remarkable achievement that reflects their commitment, growth and consistency week after week.
We're thrilled to confirm that our Senior Women will be competing in the Epworth Female Final Series, beginning Sunday 2nd Aug.
We are equally excited to announce that Lara Football Netball Club will host the 2026 Epworth Female Grand Finals, covering both junior and senior female competitions.
Date - Sunday 30th August Lara Recreation Reserve on Ovals 1 and 3.
This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase female football in our community and celebrate the achievements of all teams involved.
A huge congratulations to our Senior Women on an incredible season so far and best wishes as they head into the final series.
Following the mid-season break, the U18 boys secured a win away against South Barwon. The boys started strongly, but despite a challenge from South Barwon, Lara held on to win by 8 points. Next up, the boys played St Albans; again the boys started strongly and held their own in the first half before St Albans kicked away in the second half and were 83-point winners by the final siren.
The month of August sees our final 3 games of the season see us playing Bell Park and Anglesea at Home, and finishing the season away against the Surf Coast Suns. The boys are looking to finish the year off strongly.
Our Under 10 and Under 12 girls' teams continue to enjoy very strong seasons, with both teams showing significant improvement on last year's performances.
Our Under 17 girls' team continues to face challenges with player numbers. However, to their credit, they have consistently fielded a team each week and have delivered some very solid performances, with several closely contested matches over the past few weeks.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen our junior male players continue to improve their skills, grow in confidence and work together as a team. It’s been just as rewarding to watch friendships strengthen both on and off the field, creating a fun and supportive environment for everyone.
Our social events have also been a highlight, with the Colour Run bringing plenty of smiles, laughter and colourful memories for our players and families. It’s moments like these that make our junior football community so special.
