1. Who can enrol in DSQ courses?

DSQ courses are open to Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, Auslan users, CODAs, and supporters who meet the course-specific prerequisites. Most courses are suitable for beginners unless specified.

2. Are courses Auslan-accessible?

Yes. All DSQ courses are delivered with Auslan-accessible instruction or support.

3. Do I need to be a DSQ member to enrol in a course?

Yes. You must be a DSQ member to enrol in our courses to ensure coverage under our insurance and participation policies.

4. What is the difference between a course and an event?

Courses are structured learning programs (e.g., Start Sailing, Powerboat Handling) with set content and assessments, usually leading to certification.
Events are community participation activities (e.g., Social Sailing Days, Regattas) for fun, skill-building, and social connection.

5. Are there prerequisites for courses?

Some courses (e.g., Powerboat Handling, Safety Boat Operator) have prerequisites such as a valid powerboat licence or completion of earlier course levels. Check the course description before enrolling.

6. What if I miss a course session?

Please contact DSQ as soon as possible. Make-up sessions may not always be available.

7. What happens if the course is cancelled?

If DSQ cancels a course due to low enrolment or weather, you will be offered an alternative date or refunded according to our course policy.

8. Are course fees refundable if I withdraw?

No. Course fees are non-refundable unless stated otherwise in the course information or if DSQ cancels the course.

9. How do I register for a course?

Course information, dates, and registration links are available on the DSQ Events Calendar and social media. You can also email us directly to express interest.
