Social Sailing Programs

Inclusive, Auslan-Accessible Sailing for All Ages and Abilities

Deaf Sailing Queensland (DSQ) runs regular Social Sailing Programs for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Auslan users, CODAs, families, and community supporters.

Our Social Sailing Program is a friendly, relaxed opportunity to get out on the water, build confidence, develop skills, and connect with the community — all in an Auslan-accessible environment.

Who Can Join?

  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing people of all ages

  • Auslan users and CODAs

  • Families and community supporters

  • Beginners and experienced sailors — all welcome!

 

What We Offer

  • Fortnightly Social Sailing Days
    Open to all experience levels — come for fun, friendship, and time on the water — no competition, no pressure.

You are welcome to bring your own sailboat or windsurfing gear to use on Social Sailing Days.

  • Family-Friendly Events
    Bring your family along for a community sailing day.

  • Come & Try Sailing Days
    A great way for newcomers to experience sailing for the first time — with full Auslan-accessible support.

  • Group Sailing with Auslan-Accessible Coaching
    Join our guided group sessions, led by Deaf or Auslan-fluent instructors.
