Play Our Way Grant

Deaf Sailing Queensland (DSQ) is proud to be a recipient of the Play Our Way Grant, an initiative of the Australian Government, designed to increase participation opportunities for women and girls in sport.

The Play Our Way Grant enables DSQ to:

  • Provide more accessible sailing and watersport activities for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Auslan-using women and girls.

  • Support the delivery of Regattas, leadership development programs, and female-led crew opportunities.

  • Create pathways for women and girls to participate in coaching, leadership, and competition — within a supportive, Auslan-accessible environment.

  • Promote inclusive participation through subsidised activity fees, skill-building workshops, and leadership mentoring.

  • Strengthen partnerships with Humpybong Yacht Club sailing clubs to deliver accessible, community-focused programs.

  • Enable us to purchase necessary equipment to support our programs and activities.

Our ongoing participation in the Play Our Way initiative reflects DSQ's commitment to Deaf leadership, gender inclusion, and community connection through sailing and watersport.

Thank You to the Australian Government

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Australian Government for their support of DSQ and our mission to empower Deaf women and girls through inclusive sport and community engagement.

Deaf Connect

Deaf Connect Community Grant

Deaf Sailing Queensland is also supported by the Deaf Connect Community Grant, which helps subsidise the cost of sailing courses and programs for Deaf children and youth. This generous support enables DSQ to remove financial barriers and increase access to sailing opportunities for young Deaf participants.

We thank Deaf Connect for their ongoing support of our community and their commitment to empowering Deaf youth.
