Social Sailing & Paddling Activity Waiver

By registering for a Deaf Sailing Queensland Inc. (DSQ) social sailing or paddling activity, I acknowledge that sailing, paddling and water-based activities involve inherent risks, including changing weather and water conditions, slips and falls, collisions, capsizing, equipment failure, injury and other risks associated with being on or near the water.

I agree to:

  • Follow all reasonable safety instructions provided by DSQ, Humpybong Yacht Club, activity leaders, instructors and/or officials.
  • Wear a personal flotation device (PFD) when required.
  • Use equipment appropriately and report any damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Advise the activity leader of any relevant information that may affect my ability to participate safely.
  • Participate within my own abilities and advise the activity leader if I am unable or uncomfortable undertaking an activity.
  • Behave responsibly and with consideration for other participants, volunteers and members of the public.

I understand that activities may be changed, postponed or cancelled due to weather, water conditions, safety concerns, availability of suitable leaders, equipment or other circumstances.

I acknowledge that social activity fees are non-refundable. If a scheduled DSQ social sailing/paddling day is unable to proceed, a catch-up activity day will be offered.

In the event of an accident or emergency, I authorise DSQ representatives to arrange reasonable first aid or emergency assistance where required.

Nothing in this waiver is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Australian law.

Acknowledgement

By agreeing to this Event Waiver and submitting my registration, I confirm that I have read and understood the above information, acknowledge the risks associated with participating in sailing and paddling activities, and agree to follow DSQ’s safety requirements and reasonable instructions.

For a participant under 18 years, the parent or legal guardian confirms that they have read and understood this Event Waiver and consent to the young person participating in the activity.
