Stage 3 – Better Sailing
Better Sailing for juniors introduces kids to the Sabot and Optimist dinghy. Kids will sail either 1 Up (by themselves) or 2 Up (with someone) in a club dinghy learning how to make the boat go faster and playing more games all while still under the guidance and support of the Instructor and Assistant Instructors. BSS have 4 club Sabot and 6 Optimist dinghies available for the Better Sailing - Junior coaching sessions
Better Sailing for teens introduces teenagers to the Laser dinghy while they also refine their skills in the Quest trainer. BSS has 3 Laser and 4 Quest dinghies available for the Better Sailing - Teens coaching sessions.

Prerequisites |
Completion of the Start Sailing Course or if the sailor has previous sailing experience this will be assessed by the Club Coach |
What to Bring |
Clothes & Shoes - wear ones you don't mind getting wet
A towel and a change of clothes and shoes.
Drink Bottle, Hat & Sunscreen

A 2 hour coaching session in one of our club dinghies
Use of a club buoyancy vest (PFD)

Parent Involvement |
As a parent or guardian of a Junior Sailor we encourage you to become involved. Being involved in the rigging and de-rigging of boats, helping in support boats and learning some basic sailing concepts is a great way to support your Junior sailor. |
