Membership

Step 1/5: Let's get started
Step 1/5: Let's get started

One of the things that makes our club special is the spirit of its members. The club is built not just on facilities or activities, but on people contributing their time, skills, energy and support for one another.

Many of the events, improvements, activities and day-to-day operations you’ll enjoy here exist because members have freely volunteered to help over the years.  That culture of participation is one of the club’s greatest strengths.

Membership is open to divers, family members and distance members. Divers MUST have completed a competency certification in any accredited dive course recognised in Australia.

 Joining URGQ

We encourage prospective new members to register online at the bottom of this page.  See sections below on Membership Fees and Membership Categories for full descriptions.

Once you have completed the online registration details you will also need to:

  • have your dive certification card sighted by the Treasurer or other committee member, and
  • pay your membership fee (new members please discuss with Treasurer before making a payment), then
  • be voted in at either:

    • a weekly social meeting at the clubhouse held on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm (with a minimum of 5 full members present), or

    • the monthly General Meeting, or

    • an official club event (with a minimum of 5 full members present).

Your membership won't be active until this is complete.  You will then receive a website login and will start to receive club emails and event information.

We encourage you to attend our weekly social meetings or other activities and get to know your fellow members.  Becoming involved in club activities, even in small ways helps strengthen our club and the friendships you make.

Membership Fees

Membership fees are due at the beginning of each financial year and last for one year.

Special New Members Discount - Our fees are very competitive at $150pa for full membership which you could say is recouped after your first couple of dives. However, new full members pay only the pro-rata amount for the remainder of the year in which you first join (on a monthly basis).

New members should contact the club treasurer via urgqau1954@gmail.com before paying any fees for your pro-rata amount.

For all other membership types, please see below. Please review all membership categories to determine which is appropriate for your application.  If you have any questions please email the club.
