Hurricanes Softball Club is an inclusive, family-oriented club that values sportsmanship, respect and belonging. We are committed to fostering a positive playing environment for all players, coaches, volunteers, and members.
We aim to develop skilled, resilient, and coachable players who love the game and demonstrate care for their teammates, opponents, and the broader softball community.
Play by the rules at all times
Listen to and learn from our coaches, accepting their advice with respect
Treat teammates, opposition players, team officials and umpires with respect
Support others and never ridicule someone for making a mistake
Look after our equipment and use it appropriately
Speak with coaches at training if we’re interested in learning a key position
Show commitment by arriving on time and participating with energy and hustle
Understand we are responsible for our actions and words on and off the diamond
Play the position we are allocated to the best of our ability
Respect umpires and avoid criticising their decisions
Never use inappropriate language or cause physical harm
Show appreciation for the efforts of our volunteer team officials
Shake hands or fist bump opposition players and officials after every game
Are modest in success and gracious in defeat
Encourage players to:
Play by the rules
Show respect for all coaches, teammates, opposition players, and umpires
Become independent problem-solvers and decision-makers on the diamond
Remember that:
Our children play for their enjoyment, not ours
They are here to have fun, learn new skills, and develop a love for the game
Players learn best by example — we applaud great efforts by all teams
Commit to being:
Supportive, involved caregivers who contribute to the sustainability of the club by volunteering when asked
During games, we:
Do not criticise umpire decisions
Refrain from giving coaching instructions from the sideline
Raise any concerns with team officials outside of game or training times
