State Development Squad

Badminton Victoria has a proud history of winning individual and team titles at Australian National Championships in all age groups. Currently, Victoria has won the Ede Clendinnen Shield (Australia’s National Open Age Group Team Championships), for the last 9 years running.

To further strengthen the Badminton Victoria player development framework and pathway, BV runs a Junior & Senior State Squad Performance Program at the Melbourne Sports Centre (MSAC) and a Para Development Squad at WSBA/Altona which are fully aligned with the Badminton Australia High Performance System.

Players are selected into the state program based on their performance at key state and national events and/or upon nominations from coaches, member clubs, associations, or academies. The BV Performance Committee is tasked with the selection of players and assesses players on an ongoing basis. Players can be (de)selected for the program at any time during the calendar year.
