Child Safety & Welfare

Child Safety & Welfare

Gillieston Heights Physical Culture requests that all students, be brought inside the building where their class is being held by their parent/guardian who is dropping them off. We also request that they are collected from inside the venue as well. No child will be allowed to leave the foyer without supervision or a parent or guardian.

Teachers cannot supervise students walking to or from car parks.

If someone else is collecting your child, please be sure to let the teacher now on drop off.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS

All Associates and position bearers of Gillieston Heights Physical Culture have current working with children checks which have been verified with the appropriate authorities.

Teachers’ assistants and Associates under the age of 18 will have a club member with a verified working with children’s check who has been approved to supervise them.

MEMBER PROTECTION INFORMATION OFFICER

Member Protection Information Officers (MPIOs) are an integral part of all levels of Australia sport, especially grassroots sport.

MPIOs are there to listen to issues raised by members of any sport before triaging and referring them to the right place to find a resolution.

The MPIO is responsible for providing information about a person’s rights, responsibilities and options to an individual making a complaint or raising a concern under relevant member protection and child safeguarding policies. The MPIO may also listen to complaints around personal grievances or selection issues and should refer people to the right contact for a resolution.
