ABOUT US
Cairns Athletics was formed on 16 October 2005 and incorporated on 10 November 2006, bringing together Cairns Little Athletics (formed May 1984) and Cairns & District Athletics Club Inc (revived 1976). We are a family-oriented club committed to providing athletes of all ages with opportunities to grow, develop, and achieve through the sport of athletics.
Location & Club Nights
Our club is based at Barlow Park, with club nights held on most Friday evenings from 5:30pm during each school term.
During club nights, athletes participate in a rotation of five events, allowing them to gain experience across running, throwing, and jumping disciplines. Parents and carers are required to be on the field of play to supervise and assist children through each event. Support in the canteen throughout the year is also greatly appreciated.
Key Events
Cairns Athletics hosts and participates in a range of competitions throughout the year, including:
Coaching & Development
In 2025, Cairns Athletics was supported by nine volunteer coaches, providing coaching and training opportunities across age groups and disciplines. Updated coaching information will be shared via our Facebook page and will be updated again when the 2026 season begins.
Get Involved
The committee always welcomes new members and volunteers. There are many opportunities to become involved, including learning how to be a coach, track starter, photo finish operator, or throws, jumps, and track official.
