ANQ

Cairns Athletics Athletes are all members of Athletics North Queensland.

Athletics North Queensland (ANQ) was founded in 1996 to provide athletics in the North Queensland Region with a united voice.  The aim of ANQ has always been to address the specific needs of regional athletic clubs and their members.  This is achieved through regular championship events, specialist coaching clinics, officials training sessions, technical, administration and logistical support to member clubs along with having a range of staff members in North Queensland.

ANQ is the fastest growing, most progressive athletic area in Australia with over 2780 registered members . It consists of Track and Field clubs and Road Running clubs stretching all over North Queensland from Rockhampton and Mackay in the south to Longreach and Mt. Isa in the west, Mossman in the north.   Members at each of the clubs range from the ages of 4 years to Masters.  Each club has its own venue, set training days, club competition events and social days, and each with an established committee, coaches, officials and volunteers all providing the members to grow and develop through the sport of athletics.

ANQ continues to work to attract state, national and international athletic events to North Queensland and host athletics carnivals in many of its regional centres, as well as the ANQ Student Games / All Comers Championships and the North Queensland Track & Field Championships, both major events on the Australian Athletics calendar.
