So... What is Physie?

Think fun, upbeat pop music meets an amazing fusion of jazz and hip hop, ballet and contemporary, aerobics and yoga. Physie is an Australian dance sport that brings together dance, fitness, strength, flexibility and movement to music. Each year, our members learn new routines, work on their skills and take on new challenges. There’s learning, practising, performances and competitions for those who want to take part, along with plenty of little goals to work towards along the way.

💛

But there’s no one way to do Physie

Some members love performing. Some love the challenge of competition. Some love learning new skills. Some love seeing their friends each week. And some simply love coming to class, moving to music and having fun. Every member gets to make Physie their own.

From tiny first steps to growing into something bigger

One of the things we love about GHPC is watching our members grow.

Not just taller.

Not just better at their routines.

But into more confident, capable and independent versions of themselves.

Glitter Girls | Ages 2–4

Their first little taste of Physie. A chance to move, dance, listen to music, play games and have fun in a class made for our youngest members.

Ages 5–6

This is where they really start finding their feet. Development of fundamental Physie techniques, learning routines, trying new things and discovering that they can do more than they thought.

Ages 7–8

More skills, more challenges and plenty of opportunities to keep growing. They’re learning to remember routines, work on their technique and enjoy being part of the club.

Ages 9–12

The years where you start seeing just how much they can do. They’re building and refining their skills, taking on new challenges, and growing alongside their friends whilst being introduced to more complex choreography.

Seniors (Teens Ages 13-17)

Still learning. Still dancing. Still challenging themselves. Physie grows with them, giving our older girls somewhere to keep developing their skills and enjoying being part of GHPC. Our Seniors learn advanced choreography with a strong focus on performance skills.

Ladies

And then there are our Ladies. Because growing up doesn’t mean leaving Physie behind. Ladies of all ages can continue to dance, keep active, learn new routines and be part of the same club. You really can grow through Physie. We offer our Ladies fitness, flexibiity and fun for all ages and abilities.

What makes GHPC feel like GHPC?

It’s hard to explain in one sentence.

It’s the girls arriving at class and immediately looking for their friends.

It’s the concentration when everyone is trying to get a new section right.

It’s someone finally nailing something they’ve been practising for weeks.

It’s the little ones watching the older girls.

It’s the older girls encouraging the younger ones.

It’s the laughs between routines.

It’s the nerves before a performance.

It’s the excitement when something goes well.

And it’s the people who keep showing up for each other.

That’s the part of Physie at GHPC you can’t really explain until you’re here.

💛

Never done Physie before?

That’s completely fine.

You don’t need to know the routines.

You don’t need to understand how competitions work.

You don’t need to have danced before.

And you definitely don’t need to walk through the door already knowing someone.

We’ll show you what to do.

You can ask questions.

You can have a look around.

And you can decide whether Physie feels like something you’d enjoy.

You don’t have to know before you try.

And you're never too old to start.

We welcome beginners of all ages, from little ones taking their first steps into Physie through to ladies trying it for the very first time.

💛

What does a Physie class actually look like?

There isn’t a complicated formula.

You come in, get moving, learn, practise and dance.

Some weeks we’re working hard on a tricky section.

Some weeks something suddenly clicks.

Sometimes we spend ages on one little detail because we know it can make a difference.

And sometimes the best part of the class is simply everyone having a really good time together.

There’s always something to learn, but there’s always room to enjoy it too.

 💛

This is GHPC

 💛

The classes, the performances, the competitions and all the little moments in between.

The concentration when everyone is learning something new.

The laughs between routines.

The proud moments when everything finally comes together.

The nerves before a performance.

The girls cheering each other on.

The little ones watching the older girls.

The older girls remembering what it was like to be little.

The Ladies who keep coming back.

These are the moments that make GHPC what it is.

This is what being part of GHPC looks like.

What our members say

One of the best ways to find out what GHPC is like is to ask the people who are already here.

"Can not recommend GHPC enough. My daugther Cleo has been a part of the club for a few years now. The teachers are so beautiful and Cleo's confidence has just continued to grow. Dancing is her favourite part of the week."

- GHPC Parent Katey

"I joined GHPC this year as a ladies beginner, and it has been the absolute best experience. Walking into a new club can be intimidating, but everyone here is genuinely supportive and encouraging. The sessions are the perfect mix of challenging and fun. It is an amazing way to move your body and push your limits while creating real friendships and lasting memories. If you are looking for a welcoming community where you can challenge yourself and have a great time, I cannot recommend GHPC highly enough. Give it a try!"

- GHPC Lady Alison

"I love that my girls genuinely look forward to going to Physie each week. Their teachers are so kind, nurturing and they all truly care about the girls. My youngest has always been really introverted, but since becoming a dancer at Gillieston Heights Physie she has become so much more confident and expressive. My oldest has also gained so much confidence and experience through performing and competing. I just love seeing how much they both enjoy Physie and watching them grow."

- GHPC Parent Mia
