	The Newmarket Hotel (AKA The Newy) is an iconic Pub located in Albury, NSW. Built in the 1880’s, the hotel was a popular watering hole for the farmers who travelled across the Albury / Wodonga region to attend the Albury Sale Yards, which was conveniently located across the road. With fantastic meals, heaps of betting facilities, a bottle shop, private & public entertainment areas, The Newy is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

	Albury locals Andrew and Alana aka Willo and Larn owners of SportsPower Albury have a story that would be at home in any Hollywood movie. Both sports mad they met whilst working in the store for the previous owner whlst Larn studied physiotherapy. They fell in love got married and jumped at the opportunity to buy the business in 2008. They've since had 3 beautiful daughters Evie Bella and Halle built the business up and relocated to brand new premises and they are still absolutely loving being a part of the Border sporting community! SportsPower Albury is one of the over 100 independently owned and operated SportsPower stores situated throughout Australia and is a member of a dedicated group that is committed to sharing their expertise and knowledge to meet their local communities sporting and fitness needs.

Where does sponsorship funding go?

The generous support of our sponsors helps Wombats Hockey Club keep membership fees affordable for families. Thanks to this backing, we’ve been able to offer free memberships to new juniors and are working towards reducing fees for all junior players in the future.

In 2026, we plan to invest in a major equipment upgrade to ensure our players can train with safe, modern, and high-quality gear.

As our club and the wider hockey community in Albury–Wodonga continues to grow, we are also looking to increase our access to field hire, giving every team the time and space they need to train effectively.

Each year, several Wombats earn selection for regional representative teams. Sponsorship helps us reduce the financial burden on these players by contributing towards their costs—allowing them to chase their dreams and take steps towards becoming future Hockeyroos and Kookaburras.

Our club also relies on the commitment of coaches, umpires, and volunteers. With sponsorship, we can invest in their development through clinics and training, as well as recognise and reward their invaluable contributions.
