Weekly Wrap Up – 9th December 2023

Melbourne’s weather has again made an impact on our season with the last 2 weeks being washed although our Under 13s got to play their game.

Well done to Echo & Jason from our Under 13s who participated in the Under 12s Home Run Heroes Tournament held on Sunday 3rd December at Fawkner Park. They played with Eastern Raiders and from everything I’ve heard, they had lots of fun.

Our best wishes go to Audry & Caitlin who are in the Under 23 Victorian team, competing in Adelaide Tuesday, December 12 to Sunday, December 17, 2023, West Beach, South Australia

The Vics won their first and only game today - 7/0 over South Australia which is a great start to their tournament.

It will be a busy day for them tomorrow as they have 3 games scheduled. We’ll be following their progress.

If you would like to check in on their progress, you can log-on to this website:

Mid-week Game - Wed 06/12

Syndal (5) defeated Brandon Heights (4)

Our first 3 innings saw our batters hit straight to the Brandon Heights fielders without scoring runs whilst they were able to 1 in the second innings and 3 in the third but our 4th innings saw Jodi get on base with an error, Audrey got on and Sal hit a double to get Jodi and Audrey home.

We were able to keep Heights scoreless in their 2 next innings while we scored 3 in our next innings with Jenny, Sarah and Miki all getting on base with hits and then getting home to take the game 5-4.

A very big thank you to Ash Crawford who was able to come and help us out before heading down to her game at Casey later that night.

It was a good win and great comeback from our team on the night.

WSA NEWS

This weekend will be Christmas at Jells. Everyone is welcome to come dressed in Christmas colours, sing along to come carols and have your photo taken with Santa. Ausport will be at the Park for all your Christmas shopping needs as well.

Wth Under 16 National Championships starting on 2nd January, WSA will be holding 2 working bees to prepare the grounds. The dates are:

Sunday 17th December
Thursday 28th December

We have been allocated jobs which need to be completed by 28th December but there are many jobs that need to be completed and the more people we have to help, the quicker they’ll get done.

We’ll keep everyone updated on working bee times.WSA will also be asking for volunteers during the tournaments - to help with jobs such as:

. Scoreboard duty
. Lining diamonds
. Canteen duties
. Water container duties

The weather forecast is looking much better than the last 2 weeks and it will be good to catch up with everyone before our holiday break.

We may need sunscreen and water bottles rather than umbrellas and raincoats.
