Mandurah Rockingham Athletic Club Inc

(a.k.a. The Seniors Club / M.R.A.C)

Mandurah Rockingham Athletic Club (M.R.A.C) was originally established in 1982 for senior athletes in the wider Rockingham and Peel regions.

In 2019, it was merged with the former Rockingham Districts Athletics Club to continue to offer local athletes an avenue to compete at weekly Athletics West “Strive” events, as well as State and National Championships.

Since the 2021 season, an agreement has been in place with Rockingham District Little Athletics Centre Inc to enabled M.R.A.C members to compete in the “open” division at the regular little athletics events at Hourglass Reserve. This agreement falls under the Athletics West One Sport Affiliation.

The club has had a number of state, national and international (World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympics) representatives in its’ long history and we continue to honour that tradition with our current membership.

All track and field athletes +12y/o are welcome to join the club and various membership levels are available (discounts available for Little Athletics, Masters and Social members). We endeavour to cater for all abilities and are an inclusive club.

LOCAL OPEN DIVISION COMPETITION DETAILS

1.The Open Competition is a pilot program run by RDLAC under Heads of Agreement with M.R.A.C, and will run for the whole summer season of events, including the local Multi-event" and Centre Championships.

2.The events will be held at Hourglass Reserve most Saturday mornings between 7:30am and 1pm throughout the summer season, starting in October 2025. A calendar will be distributed when RDLAC finalises it later next week. Typically, events will run unless there is a severe storm forecast, or COVID restrictions.

3. M.R.A.C Athletes are eligible to participate if they are turning 16 in 2025 or older (no upper age limit), and they are a current "Open", "Masters Dual" or "Community" members of MRAC (not Little Athletics or Social members). Note, athletes registered with Little Athletics are not eligible to compete in the Open division.

4. Participating M.R.A.C Athletes will be invited to compete in the Open" division alongside RDLAC U16/U17 athletes in joint competition. These will be scheduled together, by the announcer, and in consultation with the RDLAC Arena Manager on the days of competition.

5.M.R.A.C Athletes competing in the Open division must wear the M.R.A.C competition uniform (ie. M.R.A.C singlet or crop). These are available for purchase upon request to MRAC (mrac_club@yahoo.com)

6. Upon arrival on competition days, participating M.R.A.C Athletes will be requested to sign in and identify which events you wish to compete (one, some or all). For those unfamiliar with Little Athletics events, there is a rough timetable for track and field, but it can change on the day so there may be some waiting time involved. All events run every week, but are split by gender: Program 1 will typically have Male 100m, 400m, 1500m, Discus, LJ, HJ, 300m hurdles and Female short track hurdles, 200m, 800m shotput, Javelin, Walk and TJ. The following week it reverses so everyone does all events across the two week cycle.

7. The condition of competing in the Open division will be that you will be rostered on to assist at an event site during the competition day you are attending. Where possible this will be after you compete, and if that is later in the program then you will assist with packing up sites. The allocation is at the discretion of the RDLAC Arena Manager in consultation with the MRAC representative (or delegate).

8. RDLAC will attempt to supply correct weight/height throwing implements and hurdles for OC events where possible, but in some cases Open athletes may provide their own equipment for competition with approval from the Arena manager on a case by case basis.

9. Results will be recorded during competition and supplied to M.R.A.C for distribution to participating athletes.

10.At all events M.R.A.C Athletes/Parents/Guardians/Coaches/Associates agree to participate under the RDLAC competition rules and centre policies, as outlined in the RDLAC handbook or advised in writing. Little athletics competitions are about participation, inclusion, fun and family involvement. Please respect this philosophy and participate in the same spirit while enjoying the opportunity to compete in your local community.
