About
Rockingham Districts Little Athletics Centre
Rockingham Districts Little Athletics Centre (RDLAC) is a vibrant and inclusive community athletics centre serving the Rockingham region of Western Australia. Based at Hourglass Reserve, Cooloongup, we offer children from 4-year-olds and 5-year-olds, age groups from Under 7 through to Under 18s the opportunity to participate in track & field events in a fun, supportive environment.
Our Mission & Values
At RDLAC, we believe in Family, Fun & Fitness. Every child, regardless of experience or ability, is encouraged to try running, jumpin and throwing in a safe, inclusive setting. Our aim is not just competition, but personal growth, confidence building, sportsmanship, and fostering a lifelong love of athletics.
History & Facilities
Our Centre has a rich history. Over many decades, we have seen clubs form, amalgamate, change names, and evolve. Key milestones include the formation of many of our current clubs and our move to the current home at Hourglass Reserve.
At Hourglass Reserve, Cooloongup, RDLAC hosts its competition meets on Saturday mornings, with full track and field facilities including sprint and distance running, jumps (long, triple, high), throws (shot put, discus, javelin), and more.
This Season is a COMBINED Centre Training that is held during the week currently on Tuesdays at 4:30pm @ Hourglass Reserve under the guidance of our Centre Coaches and volunteer helpers.
Our Clubs
Four integral clubs make up RDLAC, each bringing its own community, culture, and strengths. Athletes register via one of these clubs, which provide local support, training, and a club identity within the broader Centre:

What Makes Us Special
- Inclusive & Welcoming: No matter ability or background, we aim to provide a positive experience. Everyone’s contribution matters.
- Local Community Focus: The Centre is run mainly by volunteers — parents, former athletes, community members — who bring passion and commitment.
- Holistic Athlete Development: Beyond just distances and times, we teach technique, safety, fair play, and perseverance.
- Opportunities to Progress: Beyond centre competition, talented athletes can compete in zone, state events. RDLAC supports those pathways.
