History

The History of the Rockinngham Districts Little Athletics Centre (RDLAC) involes its origin from the Rockingham Beach Club and a partnership with Kwinana, leading to its formation at Rockingham Oval. The centre has experienced numerous club formations, dissolutions, and name changes over the years, including, the formation of clubs like Warnbro, Safety Bay (later Bayside), and Cooloongup, and has seen changes in its facilities, inclding its move to Hourglass Reserve.
Early Years
Origins: The RDLAC's history began with the formationof a Rockingham Beach Club.
Early Competitions: The club initially competed at Perry Lakes, then joined Melville at Tompkins Park and later at Stock Road.
Centre Formation: Rockingham and Kwinana eventually formed their own Centre, competing at Rockingham Oval and including clubs such as Rockingham Beach, Bungaree, Calista, and Medina.
Club and Facility Developments
Club Formations:The period saw the formation of clubs like Warnbro, Safety Bay, Hillman, Parmelia, and Orelia.
Divisions: The Kwinana clubs later formed their own separate Centre.
Club Name Changes: Safety Bay changed its name to Bayside, and later, Star of the Sea became K-Stars, then Palm Beach Panthers.
Recession and Reforms: Several clubs, including Rockingham Beach and Bayside, went into recess and later reformed over time.
Facility Relocation: The Centre eventually moved to new facilities at Hourglass Reserve, Cooloongup.
Recent Club and Name Changes
New Clubs: The formation of the Cooloongup and Secret Harbour clubs occurred.
Further Changes: More recent developments include the formation of the Waikiki Dragons and Singleton Sharks clubs.
Name Updates: Clubs like Star of the Sea (K-Stars) and Warnbro also experienced name changes, becoming the Palm Beach Panthers and Warnbro Swans, respectively.
