Learn to Sail Courses

At Avalon we also run Adult learn to sail classes with our fleet of Puffin Pacers, usually for 3 or 4 saturday mornings in a row.

The Puffin Pacers are an ideal boat to learn the basics and develop the skills of sailing, suited to 2 Adults. These boats have the same setup as any two sailed boat, including most yachts - and therefore provide beginners with a perfect platform to learn.

We keep the classes down to 3 or 4 boats to ensure an optimal & enjoyable learning experience.

We run these courses depending on the demand of members & the public, to see if there is an Adult Learn to Sail course scheduled, they are normally listed on the events page of our website.

Crewing on a Yacht

At Avalon we run Yacht Races on Sundays throughout the season; September - April with a break from Christmas to the end of January.

Members of the public are welcome to visit us on any Sunday, and if you are looking to crew the best time is to vist is around 4pm when the "yachties" arrive back at the club after racing. You'll find skippers & crew on the verandah enjoying a cool drink from the bar and enjoying the sunset over Pittwater.
