Teams and CompetitionsThe UNSW Summer Hockey competition is an internally run competition providing both members and non-members the opportunity to play hockey in the ‘off season.’ Games are played mid-week from 7:00pm onwards and take place on weeknight evening(s). This is primarily an adults competition but more experienced juniors are welcome to join in. The club runs two competitions each year: 1. Mid January – Mid February (~5 rounds) Teams are mixed and games are played in a 7-a-side format on half field. This modified format enables two games to take place on the pitch at any one time. Games are typically 25 minutes in length with each team playing two games per night either back to back or with a break. You can form your whole team and all sign up, or sign up as a small group or individual and will put you in a team. |
2026 January-February CompThe format is social mixed 7-a-side on a half pitch (25 minutes games with each team playing two games per evening, either back to back or with a 30 min break).

Why Should I Play?Summer Hockey is super social, and a great opportunity for players of all standards (from first timers to first graders) to play in mixed teams and shake off the cobwebs. Our aim is to have a balance of men and women from different skills levels in each team. In addition to keeping your hockey skills up, our summer competition is a fantastic way to meet new players and make friends. The social nature of this competition often means that teams gather at nearby pubs for drinks and dinner afterwards. |
