President's Welcome

Welcome to the official website of the UNSW Hockey Club. As one of Sydney’s premier Hockey Clubs we teams for men, women and juniors across all skills abilities. We are located 2km from UNSW's Kingsford Campus and have our own brand-new water-based playing surface that is used for training, winter competition fixtures and twice-yearly social summer series.

We have a diverse membership based comprising of students, associate members, and even junior players. The club celebrated its 70^th Anniversary in 2022 which also was our most successful year yet, winning seven premierships including our first ever women’s Metro League 1 title and men’s Premier League 1 title, our first since 1985. We have a proven track record with current and past Kookaburras and Hockeyroos playing amongst our teams.

The 2026 winter season will commence in late March, with plenty of pre-season training and games in the lead up.

COMPETITIONS

Mens

UNSW Hockey Club welcomes male players of all skills and levels.
We are currently entered in the Sydney Hockey Association (SHA) competition with 10 teams, one in each Sydney grade.

Our club has teams in Premier League 1-2 & Sydney League 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8

Womens

Our womens teams play across 2 competitions - Sydney Womens Hockey League (SWHL) and Sydney East Hockey Association Women's competition (SEHA Women's).

We have 6 teams that compete in the Sydney Women’s Hockey League – Metro (ML) 1 to 6. The ML1 competition is the highest level of women's hockey in Sydney and the competition more broadly sees games played at various venues, centred around Olympic Hockey Centre in Homebush.

Juniors

UNSW Junior Hockey Club is the only junior hockey club in the Eastern Suburbs area with a home turf, providing competition for mixed boys and girls teams in the Sydney East Hockey Association junior comp as well as U14 and U16 teams in the Sydney Metro Junior competition. The competition starts late March/ early April playing on Friday nights or Saturday mornings depending on the draw (Under 14 Metro, Under 16 and Under 18 teams have games on Friday night, with younger age groups playing on Saturday morning).
