At NSDSA, the wellbeing and safety of all our members is our top priority. Please follow the guidelines below for raising concerns or responding to incidents or injuries.
All parent/player concerns or complaints should first be raised with your team manager. The manager will liaise with the coach/es, umpires, Umpire in Charge (UIC), and/or NSDSA Committee as needed.
Escalations: If further action is required, please lodge a formal complaint or report an incident using our NSDSA Incident Form.
Member Protection:
NSDSA has a Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) available to provide confidential and impartial support. The MPIO’s role is to provide you information and support you—not to manage or resolve complaints.
Our current MPIO: Fiona Gow

Emergency Response:
In a serious medical emergency, team managers should immediately call 000 for an ambulance.
Please also notify the NSDSA Committee so that the ambulance access gates can be opened and further assistance provided.
Concussion Protocols:
If a player or other member sustains a knock to the head during a game, warmup/warm down, or training session, please be aware of the concussion protocols which are now in place, following the adiption of Softball Australia’s Concussion Guidelines.
An assessment tool has been developed and released as part of this policy and will be automatically applied should a knock to the head be experienced at any time. These are for the benefit of all, are backed by the latest in science and place the emphasis on wellbeing and safety of all.
First Aid Kits are available during all competition and training sessions.
Kits are located in the female umpires’ change room and canteen. Note: Managers are encouraged to carry basic first aid supplies at all times.
If first aid supplies are used, please record the usage in the notebook inside the kit so that NSDSA is aware of any items which may need replacing. If no notebook is available, please feel free to notify us at secretary@nsdsa.org.au.
Defibrillator (AED) is available on all competition and training days.
Located in the female umpires’ change room (signage provided).
The AED provides verbal instructions—no training required—but please notify a committee member for support.
Non-Urgent Medical Issues: Team managers can request help via the Game Day WhatsApp group.
