What are the rules in Slow Pitch?
Slow Pitch is a fun and inclusive variation of softball designed for all skill levels. It’s social, easy to learn, and perfect for those looking for a more relaxed game atmosphere.
If you’ve played softball or baseball before, here are the key differences and rules to keep in mind:
☀️ Underarm Pitching Only:
Pitches must be delivered underarm at a moderate speed. If the pitch is too fast, it’s called a ball.
☀️ Foul Balls Count as Strikes:
Every foul ball counts as a strike. If you hit a foul on your third strike — you're out!
☀️ Force Plays Only:
All defensive plays are force plays — no tagging is allowed. If a runner is advancing to a base and the ball beats them there, they’re out.
☀️ No Sliding:
Sliding into a base is not allowed. If a runner slides, they’re automatically out.
☀️ No Stealing Bases:
You can’t leave the base until the ball is hit. No stealing or leading off.
☀️ No Bunts:
Bunting is not permitted — every batter must take a full swing.
☀️ Safety Zones Around Bases:
Each base has a 1-metre safety zone around it, including home plate. Runners must have a foot in this safety zone before the fielder with the ball touches the base to which they’re advancing.
☀️ Commitment Lines:
There are lines halfway between second and third, and third and home. Once a runner crosses one, they mustcontinue to the next base — unless there’s a foul ball or no pitch call.
☀️ Most Important Rule – HAVE FUN!
Slow Pitch is all about enjoyment, teamwork, and good vibes — keep it light-hearted and make the most of the game!
