Umpiring Games

Anyone in the softball community can be an umpire and it's never too early or too late to start. MWSA provides a Junior Blues program for the 2026 / 2027 season and Learn to Umpire sessions prior to the Junior Blues program starting.  

BLUES UMPIRING MENTOR PROGRAM - Registrations Open!

The Blues Umpiring Mentoring Program is back this season. Whether you're working towards your Level 1 Accreditation or simply looking to build your umpiring skills and confidence, we'd love you to get involved.

This season, the program will run in three 4-week blocks:

 Block 1: 24 & 31 October, 7 & 14 November 2026
Block 2: 21 & 28 November, 5 & 12 December 2026
Block 3: 30 January & 6 February, 13 & 20 February 2027

Please note: To achieve Level 1 Accreditation, you must be turning 13 during this season. Priority for mentor allocations will be given to these participants, but we encourage everyone interested in developing their umpiring knowledge and skills to join the program!

Coaching & Managing Teams

“A good coach can change a game.  A great coach can change a life!”

Coaches and team managers are an invaluable part of our game day and we are always looking to grow the number of coaches and managers amongst our volunteer base.

Scoring

MWSA run regular clinics on the basics of scoring. If you are keen to learn how to score, reach out to us at mwsa@mwsa.com.au

Volunteering

MWSA appreciates any help that our supporters are able to offer. We have regular Working Bees to maintain the Abbott Road grounds and at every MWSA event we need lots of helpers.

You might be able to help us with local fund raising events, or at tournaments we always need help to prepare the fields, run the canteen or simply lend a hand directing enquiries.

Working with Children Check (WWCC)

The Working with Children Check (WWCC) is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW.

It involves a National Police Check (criminal history record check) and a review of reportable workplace misconduct.  

If approved, a WWCC is granted for 5 years before it must be renewed.
