General SFSC Member Code of Conduct – All Members
1. Operate within the rules and spirit of the sport, promoting fair play over winning at any cost.
2. Legal Guardians, please ensure that you encourage your child to have fun, participate and give their best to this sport. It is not about winning at all costs.
3. Treat each person as an individual and how you would like to be treated.
4. Display control and courtesy to all involved with sport, ensuring that your decisions and actions contribute to a safe environment for everyone.
5. Respect the rights and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
6. Respect the decisions of officials, coaches and administrators in the conduct of the sport. Legal guardians should model this behaviour for their skater.
7. Wherever practical, avoid unaccompanied and unobserved one-on-one activity (when in a supervisory capacity or where a power imbalance will exist) with people under the age of 18 years (a child), without explicit approval from a child’s parental guardian.
8. Adopt appropriate and responsible behaviour in all interactions ensuring that you do not display or tolerate harmful, abusive, intimidatory or otherwise unacceptable behaviour that could be seen to bring yourself or SFSC into disrepute.
9. Act with integrity and objectivity, and accept responsibility for your decisions and actions;
10. Never engage in any action that can be deemed not to support the SFSC including, but not restricted to, using an open forum such as social media posts or attendance at any rinks that you/your child skate and/or any SFSC events that you/your child are in attendance at, to attack, ridicule or object to SFSC or SFSC rules or policies.
