Tackers for kids

Kids + Boats = Fun

The Tackers program introduces kids aged 7-12 to sailing using game based on-shore and on-water activities.

Kids build skills and have fun in boats under the guidance of our qualified Instructors and Assistant Instructors. No experience is required and all equipment is provided by the club, including lifejackets.

We run classes as a school holiday program or a weekly series.

The number of participants for each course is strictly limited.

Tackers 1 - Having Fun

Introduces kids to boats and builds skills through games. Kids sail in pairs in small, durable boats - a great way to make new friends!

Tackers 2 - Tricks & Techniques

Building on the fundamentals learnt in Tackers 1, kids learn to sail one-up with plenty of supervision and support.

Tackers 3 - Sailing Fast

A chance for graduates of Tackers 1 and 2 to develop more advanced sailing skills and learn how to sail faster.

Good to know

Participants will need a hat, sunscreen, long sleeved shirt or rashie, enclosed shoes that can get wet (old sneakers or reef shoes are ideal), towel, dry clothes to change into, waterbottle, and snacks.

Parents/guardians and families of participants are welcome to come along to watch the fun, see what the Tackers are learning and take part in club life.
