The results may have been unexciting - Ian (the barman) Johnson and Simon (the Admiral) Webster taking Gold and Silver in both races. Pete (Dear Leader) Balka achieved bronze in the first race and Chris (ask me about my botanicals) Russell was bronze in the second race. 

But further back in the fleet there were reports of more controversy.

One version is that in the second race, Anthony (I am off to Japan) Brand, tacked in front of Doug and Martin as they were about to go around the windward mark. Anthony is reported to have decided to not give way, got caught in irons, crashed into Martin, who was then unable to get around the buoy. Martin then is reported to have had to go around again, and so was unable to catch up to Chris Russell. Another version, is that if this hadn't occured Martin would have trashed Chris Russell, and maybe even gone past Ian Johnson on the reach.
