Victorian Volleyball League (VVL)

The Maroondah Cobras represent Maroondah Volleyball in the Victorian Volleyball League (VVL) — the highest level of state-based volleyball competition in Victoria.

The Cobras program provides a performance-focused pathway for athletes competing at Premier, State and Youth State League levels, delivered within a structured and professional training environment.


The Cobras Program

Maroondah Volleyball fields Cobras teams across multiple VVL competitions, supporting athletes at different stages of their development while maintaining consistent standards across the program.

Competition Levels

Premier League

Premier U19 League

State League

Youth State League

U17 and U15 (Boys and Girls)

Athletes are selected and progressed based on performance, commitment, and suitability, as assessed by the coaching staff.


Training & Competition Overview

Training

  • Thursday evenings – training for all Cobras teams

  • Monday and Tuesday evenings – training for some teams, depending on program needs

  • Training is primarily based at Maroondah Nets, with overflow venues used as required

Training continues outside the VVL season to support athlete development and program continuity.

Competition

  • Youth State League matches: Friday evenings

  • Premier & State League matches: Saturdays

Season

  • VVL season: March to August

  • Pre-season and off-season training occurs outside the competition period

Tournaments

Cobras teams may participate in tournaments and additional events throughout the season as part of athlete development and team preparation.

Coaching & Support

The Cobras program is delivered by a team of experienced coaches across all competition levels, supported by Maroondah Volleyball’s broader development and administrative structures.

Coaches are responsible for:

  • Athlete development

  • Squad selection and progression

  • Maintaining a positive, high-standard training environment


Facilities & Training Environment

Cobras training and home matches are primarily based at Maroondah Nets, with additional overflow venues used when required to support program growth and court availability.


Athlete Pathways

The Cobras sit within Maroondah Volleyball’s broader pathway, providing progression opportunities from:

  • Youth and development programs

  • Local and club competition

  • State and Premier League volleyball

Athletes may progress within the program where appropriate, based on development and performance.


Governance & Standards

The Maroondah Cobras operate under the governance of Maroondah Volleyball and in alignment with Volleyball Victoria policies and competition structures.
