About North Area & Metro

What are the North Area and Metro Comps?

The North Area and Metro competitions are for experienced hockey players looking to play in competitive leagues. Players are required to attend annual trials for selection into a graded team and appropriate division based on age and ability - Manly enter multiple teams across these comps. Players are expected to attend weekly training which is held at Narrabeen Sports Academy Wakehurst Parkway. Teams are mixed, with boys and girls playing along-side each other.


 

The competitions are for U12 - U18 players and categorised as such:

U12 North Area Competition

North Area turf U12 games are played on Saturday mornings between 8 and 11am. These teams participate in competitions administered by North Area Junior Hockey (NAJH) and primarily involve clubs in the northern areas of Sydney North Area. U14s & U16 North Area Competition

North Area turf U14 & u16 games are played on Friday Nights These teams participate in competitions administered by North Area Junior Hockey (NAJH) and primarily involve clubs in the northern areas of Sydney North Area. U14 & U16 Metro Competition

All Metro games are played on Friday Nights. This Sydney wide ‘Metro’ competition is administered by a sub-committee of NAJH. This means teams will be expected to travel to additional fields including Liverpool & Moorebank. The Metro comp is primarily Div 1 teams and players must opt in on their trail registration to be considered for these teams. Further info on the Metro comp and the ground locations can be found on their website – North Area

 

U18 North Area Competition

North Area turf U18 games are played on are played on Friday Nights – there is no u18 Metro comp for the 2024 season. Further info on the North Area comp and the ground locations can be found on their website – North Area
