You'd call Frank an old salt or the freshwater equivalent. He was born in 1887 and died in 1964 and had a lot to say about his observations regarding River Murray craft.
A copy of his journal was given to Geoff Byrnes by Frank's grand daughter, Jan (Egan) Skewes in 2016.
We began transcibing it before discovering that Anthony Presgrave had completed that painstaking work in 1997. We ran into him in the history room at Goolwa Library in July 2026, to find he had revisited and revised that work, which is publicly available on the shelves.
We can thank Anthony for allowing us to replicate his work here and will eventually add the annotations and observations added to Geoff Byrnes's handwritten copy.
