Records

A Club record will only be set if the following criteria are met:

·       An Athlete must be a member of Dubbo Athletics Club at the time of establishing a new Club Record.

·       Records can only be set as part of normal Club competition.

o    Club records are not set at a Zone, Regional or State competition or if the athlete is allowed more attempts than any other competitor at a normal Club competition night.

·       Records can only be set by athletes competing solely against athletes in their allocated age group and gender (with the exception of pack starts and Walks events, and athletes aged over 13 where multiple age groups are combined) (Sprints races might be combined with other age groups due to numbers but no athlete can ask to race up an age group).

·       A record will only be eligible if one Dubbo Athletics Club Committee member validates it.

·       No records will be announced on the day they are set.

·       All potential record will be reviewed by the appropriate Committee Members and announced once validated by the DAC President/Friday Night Coordinator for that night.

·       Athletes who break a record will be acknowledge.

Record Breaking Procedure

2.1. General

If it is believed that an athlete has broken a record:

·       Do not remove the spike from where the attempt has been marked. For Long Jump or Triple Jump, do not rake the pit or level the board until verification.

·       Notify a Committee Member immediately that a potential record has been set. One Committee Member is required to attend the event to verify the result.

·       The Committee Member must sign the recording sheet and note that a potential record has been broken to officially recognise the record.

·       Unverified records will not stand. Always ensure a Committee Member is present for confirmation.

·       If, at data entry time, a record is discovered without having been validated, then it will not be listed as a record.

·       A member of the Committee is not allowed to validate a record of a relative (e.g. child, nephew, niece, grandchild etc.).

·       An Age Coach/Leader that is also a Club Committee Member is not allowed to validate a record of a child in their own age group.

2.2.              High Jump

·       Always use the measuring stick provided — not the tape on the poles. The bar sags in the centre, which can alter the true height by a few centimetres.

·       If an athlete is approaching a record, please alert a Committee Member one height before the potential record so they can observe and verify.

2.3.              Track Events

3.       Records set using the timing gates will be recognised as club records (except in the instance of the gates malfunctioning due to technical issues or poor weather conditions)

4.       Records set where manual timing has been used will not be accepted

Clarifications

If at any time you or a parent needs clarification on rules, event standards, or techniques (e.g., Triple Jump), please reach out to any of the following:

5.       Any DAC Committee Member

6.       The Friday Night Coordinator has access to all rules, standards, and event procedures.

Please do not approach the Timing Gate Operator for these queries. They are managing live track events and cannot assist during competition.
