About SAGS

SAGS races are run most Sundays, with 38 races planned for 2026.
Racing is hosted at Wynnum Manly Yacht Club (WMYC)
📍 542 Royal Esplanade, Manly QLD

This is a friendly, inclusive Sunday sailing event, ideal for both experienced race crews and those newer to club racing.


 

Format & Series Details

  • Pursuit start format
  • Casual race entries or full‑series entries
  • Two 2026 series:
    • 1 February – 5 July (finished)
    • 12 July – 22 November (current)
  • No racing on:
    • Easter Sunday
    • Three Sundays during WMYC signature regattas (see calendar)

Sail Options
Loose‑luff sails (including spinnakers) are optional.
Handicaps are adjusted accordingly.
If using loose‑luff sails, this choice must be nominated at series entry.


 

Race Day Schedule

  • 11:00–11:30am – Sign‑on & event briefing (WMYC Clubhouse)
  • 11:30am sharp – Mandatory briefing

 

Membership & SailPass Requirements

All Skippers and Crew must:

  • Be a member of an Australian Sailing–affiliated club, or
  • Purchase a SailPass via the WMSC website prior to racing

A SailPass provides:

  • One‑day introductory membership of Wynnum Manly Sailing Club
  • One‑day membership of Australian Sailing

Visiting Crew & New Sailors Welcome

WMSC warmly welcomes novice and visiting crew.
Our skippers are generally happy to take on guest crew—both new and experienced.

  • Allocation of guest crew is at the skipper’s discretion
  • WMSC cannot guarantee a sail every Sunday
  • It is rare for visitors to miss out on a sail

  • Lunch and water
  • Warm clothing & spray jacket
  • Non‑marking deck shoes
