Where This Fits
Suncoast Eagles already asks a lot of our club community on safety — our Housekeeping & Safety Guidelines set out our no-drop-and-go supervision rule, rink etiquette, and our zero-tolerance stance on bullying and harassment on the floor, and our Code of Conduct sets out the Skate Australia and Skate Queensland membership terms every member agrees to, including the Working with Children declarations.
This page brings that together with our wider child safety commitments, so parents, players and volunteers can see the full picture in one place: what we stand for, who to talk to, and where to go if something doesn't feel right.
Our Commitment
The safety and wellbeing of our young skaters comes before results, competition, or anyone's individual performance. We do not tolerate child abuse, grooming, bullying, harassment or neglect in any part of club life — on the floor, in the car park, at events, or online.
This commitment is not just a club preference. It reflects our obligations under Queensland's Child Safe Organisations Act 2024, and our membership of Skate Australia and Skate Queensland, both of which have adopted the National Integrity Framework developed by Sport Integrity Australia.
Our Child Safety Officer
We've appointed a Child Safety Officer as the first point of contact for any safety or wellbeing concern involving a child or young person at our club.

The Child Safety Officer is there to listen, explain your options, and make sure any concern is handled confidentially and properly — whether that's something small you want to flag or something more serious. If Rose is not available, please feel free to speak to Jess Carter or Amanda Latimer as apart of our Eagles Executive Committee.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 000 first.
If Something Doesn't Feel Right
Every member of our club community — players, parents, guardians, volunteers, coaches, committee members and spectators — can raise a concern. You won't be criticised for speaking up in good faith, and every concern is taken seriously.
This might include:
- Something an adult or another child has said or done that felt wrong
- Bullying, harassment, or exclusion, on the floor or online
- A safety issue during training, games, or travel to events
- Anything at all that's made a child feel unsafe or uncomfortable
You can raise it directly with our Child Safety Officer, with any committee member, or through Skate Australia's own integrity and complaints channels.

This Is Everyone's Job
Keeping the Eagles a safe place for kids to play isn't just a committee responsibility. We ask everyone in our club — on and off the floor — to treat each other with respect, follow our guidelines and codes of conduct, encourage young players to speak up, and report concerns as soon as they arise.
