SUNRAYSIA SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION 

Our Story

Sunraysia Softball Association has a long and proud history in the Mildura region, with softball believed to have first been played locally in the mid-1940s.

It is believed that in 1946, women from the Army and Air Force helped introduce and develop the game within the local community. Although the original competition eventually folded, softball returned to Sunraysia around 1966.

Since then, generations of players, coaches, umpires, scorers, volunteers and supporters have helped shape softball in our region. Each generation has played its part in building on what came before, creating an association that values community, participation, development and high standards both on and off the diamond.

Sunraysia has also enjoyed considerable success at State Championship level, with both junior and senior teams proudly representing our region.

A New Chapter

After the 2019/20 local competition season, Sunraysia Softball experienced a period without a local competition.

In 2023/24, softball returned to Sunraysia, with the association re-forming and competing in the Riverland Softball competition, while also providing opportunities for the local community through a social softball program.

This marked the beginning of a new chapter for Sunraysia Softball.

Our focus is now on continuing to grow the sport locally, creating opportunities for players of all ages and abilities, developing our volunteers and representatives, and building a strong and sustainable softball community for future generations.

Sunraysia Softball Association is based in Mildura, Victoria, with games and activities held at:

Old Aerodrome Sporting Complex
11th Street, Mildura

The complex is home to our softball community and provides a place for players, families, volunteers and supporters to come together and enjoy the game.

We offer opportunities across junior, senior, social, Masters and representative softball, with pathways for players to develop their skills and take their game further.
