Entries are invited for the Friday Twilight Sailing Series organised by Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club for Series 1 to be held from Friday 9 October 2026 to 18 December 2026 and Series 2 to commence from 15 January 2027 to 2 April 2027 - Program available HERE
Participants need to be either SPASC Family/Senior/Junior members, or specific SPASC Twilight Racing only members which requires financial and active members of another Australian Sailing affiliated club. Twilight Racing only sailing members do not have storage rights in the clubhouse - refer link https://www.revolutionise.com.au/spasc/registration/

There are two divisions; Division One and GOLD Fleet
Division One is open to ILCA 7 (Laser Standard rig), ILCA 6 (Laser Radial rig), RS AERO boats and other single handed off-the-beach monohull dinghy classes that have an Australian Sailing Yardstick between 106 and 125 - refer link httpshttps://www.sailingresources.org.au/ratings-hub/yardsticks/
GOLD Fleet is a transition to racing category and is limited to either O'pen Skiffs or ILCA 6 or ILCA4 (4 = Laser 4.7 rig). Optimists are not allowed to be raced in the series.
Eligible boats should enter via this online registration process prior to entrants participating in Friday Twilight Sailing Races. Ad Hoc sailing can be undertaken in the series using a daily racing payment of $20 payable either on line here or at the club canteeen on the day.
All boats sailing in these races require current insurance cover.
A Twilight Sailing Series Race Entry Fee is payable via this online registration process prior to entrants participating in this Friday Twilight Sailing Races -
Division One
- Race fees with own boat (Full season or Series 1 / 2)
- Senior sailors; $170.00 full season OR individual Series 1 or 2 fee $90.00 per series
- Junior sailors; $115.00 full season OR individual Series 1 or 2 fee $70.00 per series
- Race fee with club boat hire - Laser (ILCA 4) - note these prices includes race fees
- $440.00 full season OR individual Series 1 or 2 fee $230.00 per series
GOLD Fleet
- Full season race fee own boat (Series 1 + 2) $120.00; OR individual Series 1 or 2 fee $70.00
- Race fee including club boat hire - Laser (ILCA 4) - full season $440.00; OR individual Series 1 or 2 $230.00 (note these prices includes race fees)
- Race fee including boat hire - O'pen Skiff - full season $440.00; OR individual Series 1 or 2 $230.00 (note these prices includes race fees)
Racing Sessions - Maximum of two races per session
Timing - Weekly races held on Friday afternoons during Daylight Saving Time, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Start Sequence - Not before 5:30pm for the first race and not after 6:45pm for any subsequent race.

Sailing Area - In the area known as Cockle Bay, Warners Bay and Marmong Point, North Lake Macquarie.
Courses - As described in the Sailing Instructions.
Scoring - The results will be calculated for Outright placings using the Australian Sailing "Off the Beach" yardsticks.
Social activities are planned after each Sailing Session. All are welcome.
SPASC is enclosed by Speers Point Park, which features plenty of activities for non-sailing family members such as an open air Olympic pool complex, parkland, walking pathways, jetty and a large enclosed children's playground.

PLEASE NOTE - SPASC is a volunteer run organisation with our membership providing their time and effort to keep our club thriving. As a club participant it is a condition that you will be occasionally able to assist with running aspects of the club. This may include being on a race management roster, assisting boats into and out of the water, assisting set up and/or pack up and clean boats after use, assisting in catering or in the canteen, bar (with RSA) or on the bbq, volunteering at fundraising events and offering other general assistance in running the club as you may be able to. We need your involvement!
