SPASC Bronze Duke of Ed - 2026 Adventurous Journey
 
Sailing Expedition to Sunshine Sailing Club (SLMASC)
 
Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club is running a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey for registered Duke of Ed participants.
 
Participants will sail from Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club to South Lake Macquarie (Sunshine) Amateur Sailing Club, camp overnight at Sunshine Sailing Club and return to Speers Point the following day. This is around a 40km round trip.
 
This journey is part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and will involve sailing, route planning, teamwork, campcraft, weather awareness, safety procedures and self-sufficient overnight camping.

Cost per participant: $50.00
 
Important participant expectations
Participants are expected to:
• take part in planning and preparation
• bring their own food, water and personal gear
• carry and manage their own equipment as far as practical
• follow all safety instructions
• wear a lifejacket when required
• work as part of the group
• respect Sunshine Sailing Club facilities
• leave the campsite clean
• complete their Duke of Ed journey log/reflection afterwards
 
This is a Duke of Ed Adventurous Journey, so participants should be as self-sufficient as possible. Adults will provide supervision and safety support, but the participants are expected to organise and manage their own journey tasks.
