Our Junior Silver Fleet & Adventure Series is designed for kids aged 8 to 16 years who have completed the Australian Sailing Green Fleet Coaching Program.  Silver Fleet is a mixture of adventure sailing and racing for kids who are not interested in racing every week.

The program runs between 1pm and 4pm each relevant Saturday.

NOTE Parents & Guardians - Please ensure you register using your child's revSPORT username and password and not your own, to allocate this Junior Sailing Program correctly.

The aim of this program is to grow sailing foundation skills through coaching during the racing and adventure sailing activities and keep kids interested in sailing through other fun activities.  We hope to incorporate some exciting non-sailing activities into this program like kayaking, fishing and more...

The sailing program will alternate each week with racing one week and adventure sailing the next and also encourage participation in Open Skiff Regattas.  The Silver Fleet will race with the Gold Fleet on Saturday afternoons, however, the Silver Fleet will sail a shorter course (so they don’t feel slow).  The Silver Fleet will also be encouraged to participate in local O’pen Skiff Regattas (there will be no Silver Fleet Program on these days).

Silver Fleet focus is on fun and creativity, to teach racing skills and extend the skills already learnt.  Through spending time on the water with friends and having fun in boats, they’ll also become active club members.

Syllabus: Better sailing, wind shifts, sail trim, gusts and lulls, sailing standing-up.

Current sailing class in our Silver Fleet are O’pen Skiffs.  Silver Fleet juniors are encouraged to use their own boat.  If your family is not ready for boat ownership, the club has some boats available for hire as a registration option for the course.

Eligible persons must be either SPASC Family or Junior members, so you need to join your children to the club as membersFIRST before you attempt to register them for this course. If you have multiple children doing courses it will be cheaper to join as a family group, single individual child can be junior member. As mentioned above the registration needs to be in their name as Australian Sailing tracks training by each individual not their parents.

As a parent(s) of a child undertaking one of our sailing courses it is a condition that you will be occasionally able to assist with running aspects of the club. This may include assisting your child (and others) to manage boats into and out of the water, assist your child to set up and/or pack up and clean boats after use, assist in the canteen or on the bbq, volunteer at fundraising events and offer other general assistance in running the club as you may be able to. We need your involvement!
