Proposal for a new Silver Salties program.

A club can propose a NEW program as part of Silver Salties, however, it must meet the majority of the Silver Salties Program Criteria.

The club must contact the SLSA Silver Salties representative via silversalties@slsa.asn.au to share the proposal and outline its alignment to the Silver Salties Program Criteria. The SLSA Silver Salties representative will provide guidance and discuss any concerns at this stage.

In terms of participant injury insurance, the ‘new’ program will only have this insurance, if it is a traditional/known surf lifesaving activity.

If the ‘new’ program is a popular active recreational pursuit (not already on the Silver Salties program matrix and not a traditional surf lifesaving activity) there will not be any personal injury insurance for participants.

Clubs can run the ‘new’ program under the Silver Salties banner, with risk management procedures in place and endorsement from the club that they are aware of the activity in line with their public liability insurance, but are advised to:

  • Seek separate endorsement through Marsh Insurance for coverage of the new activity; and/or
  • Ask participants to sign a waiver saying they understand there is no personal injury insurance aligned with the activity.

Please contact silversalties@slsa.asn.au for any questions relating to ‘new’ Silver Salties programs.
