

Join Queensland Walks and Zonta Club of Brisbane for 'She Walks Here', a walking conversation exploring how women and girls experience local streets, parks and public spaces as part of the Safe Cities for Women and Girls project.

She Walks Here is the volunteering extension of the Safe Cities | Safe Streets for Women and Girls initiative, developed in partnership with Zonta Club of Brisbane and The University of Queensland to explore how women and girls experience safety in public spaces, particularly after dark.
This WOW Festival walk offers a taster of a She Walks Here event. As we walk, we’ll explore how the local area feels, share our experiences and observations, and complete a short survey to capture insights about safety, walkability and the places we walk.
We’ll walk together around the Cairns Esplanade and city centre, stopping along the way to share insights and discuss practical ways to create safer, more inclusive and walkable communities that benefit women, girls and the wider community.

Route: Walk commences at Bulmba-ja Arts Centre (96 Abbott Street, Cairns City) then onto the Esplanade and surrounding streets (approximately 1.5km) and returning to Bulmba-ja Arts Centre.
