Membership Application/Renewal

Our association has several types of members.

A typical boat consists of a Full Member who pays for him/her/themself (usually the boat owner) and one Nominee Member (usually the crew) with the one payment.  Different to previous years, you'll need to enter the system twice - once for each member type. Before you start have your Australian Sailing membership number handy both for yourself and your Nominee.

If you are not sailing you can join as an Associate Member.

Fees

  • Full Member:  $60.  (Early bird discount $55 if paid before 1st September.)
  • Nominee Member: Free (Paid for by the Full Member)
  • Associate Member:  $30 per season.

Benefits

There are many benefits to joining Tasar NSW!...

Training!

2023-24 is the season of the Worlds in Melbourne, Australia. TANSW is sponsoring special training sessions for its members including a rules night plus hands-on on- and off-the-water training. Learn from the experts! Watch our member Newsletter to learn when.

Events

Each year your committee works hard to put on an excellent variety of events. We have something for everyone. For most regattas and series feature both multiple scratch and handicap prizes, and major titles include prizes for youth and for a variety of more senior age groups. Your membership makes you eligible to compete in the following:

  • Metropolitan Trophy series. Typically 3-5 events held in the Sydney metropolitan area, e.g. Balmoral, Iron Cove, Woollahra, Northbridge...
  • The Metropolitan Series includes the Bethwaite Trophy. A special trophy in honour of the class designer and founder, Frank Bethwaite.
  • Traveller's Trophy series. Typically 3-4 events held around the State, e.g. Canberra, Lake Macquarie, Port Macquarie, Jervis Bay, Port Stephens... (suggest a location to us!)
  • NSW State Titles and other Australian State Titles.
  • National and World Title events.
  • Winter Series: subject to sailor hardiness... we liaise with local clubs to do a winter series too!

To maximise your Tasar fun... borrow or buy a trailer and get out and about!
Note: Major titles, plus some events and venues attract additional fees.

Speed Check...

This 2023-24 season we are experimenting with using handicaps and timings from key events to rank your relative speed compared to the world's best as well as the class average. How do you rate? How far are you below the top... 2%? 5%? We'll let you know!
