FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

Where and when are games played?

* Tee-Ball (U6 - U10) is played at Fowlds Park in Western Springs every Saturday morning at 9.00am.
* Junior fast-pitch (U11 - U18) starts at either 9.00am or 10.30am
* Under 19 Boys play on Wednesday evenings from 6.00pm. 
* Senior fast-pitch (Divisions 1 - 5) starts at either 1.30pm or 3.30pm
* Reserve Women play on Monday evenings from 6.30pm. 
NB: Fast-pitch games are played all over Auckland - from Waitakere to Papatoetoe and out to Howick.  Where you play depends on which clubs are playing in your grade, and this will change week to week (i.e you may play at Metro, then Howick, then Glenora over three weekends).

How long do games go for?

Tee-ball games will run for approximately 50 minutes from 9am - 9.50am.
Junior fast-pitch plays between 50 minutes and 1 hour 25 minutes.
Senior fast-pitch and Reserve play for 1 hour 25 minutes.  
NB: These games can be shorter if the mercy rule is applied, or 7 innings are reached.

How do we know if a game has been postponed/canceled?

ASA cancellations are notified on the ASA website and Newstalk radio at 7.50am.  We will post on the Metro Facebook Page should there be cancellations, and team managers are responsible for notifying team players if they are affected by rain-outs or defaults.

Where and when is team training?

Team training is held at Metro's home ground, Phyllis Reserve in Mt Albert.  Fields are available Tuesday - Thursday evenings from 4.00pm to 9.00pm.  Exact times are determined by your team coach and manager, with most teams training on WEDNESDAYS.

What is the uniform and where do we get it?

* Tee-ballers wear their own black shorts and a provided a red Metro tee-ball top. 
* Junior players are provided with Black pants and a sublimated playing shirt. 
* Senior fast-pitch men wear white pants and black Metro playing shirt.  
* Senior fast-pitch women wear black shorts and black Metro playing shirts/singlets.

Players must provide their own socks (Red or Black) and footwear.
Personalized playing shirts are available for purchase (BLK Branded, sublimated).
All borrowed or provided uniforms need to be returned to the club at the end of the season

How much are fees?
Members pay an annual club membership as part of their playing fees. The club membership value is a contribution toward club operation and maintenance. The bulk of your fees received covers association, field and playing costs. We offer very competitive membership rates. 

Tee-ball: $60
Under 11 - 13: $80
Under 15 - 19: $100
Seniors: $220
Premier / Reserve: $220


A deposit of $40 is required at the time of registration. The balance is due prior to the first game of the season. Players with outstanding fees will not be available for team selection until payment is received in full. When are they due?

Fees must be paid in full on the Friday prior to the first scheduled game of the season.
Payment plans are available. If you are interested in setting one of these up, please contact our secretary Aimee on secretary.metrosoftballnz@gmail.com.
Junior / Tee Ball fees can be paid off for as little as $3.75 per week, or Senior Fees for $11.00 per week.

Where can I buy a glove from?

Metro Softball recommends buying all playing equipment from one of our own knowledgeable and dedicated softball suppliers; The Dugout (www.dugout.co.nz) and The Fieldhouse (www.thefieldhouse.co.nz). A limited number of gloves will be available for purchase from the club, as well as loan gloves for the season.
