About

The La Trobe University Taekwondo Club was established in the seventies by students at La Trobe University (under the guidance of Grand Master Yong Dai Cho, 9th Dan black belt, Kukkiwon) in 1973.

Head instructor: Master Yukyung Song

La Trobe University TKD trains 2 times a week, 2 hours each session. Outside of training, there are regular social events that occur usually once a month. Examples of the activities are bowling, dinner, karaoke, camping, rock climbing, ice skating, and more. The club is very social and are always keen to catch up or meet new people. We also accept people regardless their experience level, wether if you are a high performing athlete or someone with 0 experience and would like to try from the beginning, the club will try to cater to all of its member.

We highly encourage people to try to compete, as it's a very fulfilling and insightful experience. As a member of this club, you are expected to be mindful and respectful of those around you. Assist in packing equipment away, listen carefully to the instructor, and voice out any concerns so that a resolution can be made. There are opportunities to be part of the committee, which allows the practice of responsibility and refining of teamwork skills. La Trobe TKD will teach you the principles of the martial arts, strengthen your mind and body, and welcome you to a fun and diverse group for many events, experiences, and enthusiasm.
