Welcome to our 24th Annual Athletics Carnival held in conjunction with the North West Regional School Sport Selection.
Everyone is welcome to compete or just come along to support our awesome athletes - ages range from 4 years to 104 years!

HOW TO ENTER
The athlete (incl. Masters) age is as of 31 December 2026. Athletes may only enter in their own age groups.
This year we are offering a name bib (INCLUDED IN THE NOMINATIONS!) for our athletes which require time to be printed & sent...if you want your surname printed on a bib you'll need to submit your registrations by Friday 7th August 2026 @ 11pm.
Normal Registrations due date is the10th August 2026 @ 11pm!
All other Registrations received after 10th August 2026 incurs late nomination fee $10. Late nominations close at 9am Friday 21stAugust 2026. No nominations accepted after this time..

***If you are a student (10yrs to 19yrs) that could be competing for your school district (Mid West, Central West, Gulf & Mt Isa), please DO NOT NOMINATE YET until you have completed your district trials! Once these are complete, we will update this site with the links for you to pay the carnival fee (NON CLUB MEMBERS ONLY) & any extra events that you ARE NOT SELECTED FOR within your school team/s.

ENTRY FEES
For members of clubs using the Revolutionise Sport Member System
- 6yrs and Under* $25.00 total (up to 7 events) - ($35.00 total after 10th August 2026)
- 7yrs to U18 (17yrs) $10.00 per event - ($10 late nominations fee overall if after 10th August 2026 - subject to change)
- 18yrs and above including Masters# $35.00 total (up to 14 events) - ($45 total after 10th August 2026)
- Late Registration Fees added after 10th August 2026 @ 11pm
* Age groups 6yrs and under receive a participation medal, Certificate & their results.
# 18yrs and above including masters receives a gift.
For non-members or clubs not using the Revolutionise Sport Member System.
A $15 fee applies to athletes not a member of an ANQ, QA or Little A's Athletic Club. Please ensure this is selected during the registration process and relevant forms are filled out and returned - please contact registar at longreachsunsetcarnial@gmail.com for this day rego form.

REFUNDS
Refunds will not be issued for entries under any circumstances unless the meet is cancelled and not rescheduled.
UNIFORMS
Club athletes will compete for their registered club and wear correct uniform and name bib. School teams are to wear their representative uniforms. Independent athletes are to wear a plain coloured top.
IMPORTANT NOTES – READ CAREFULLY
- The 2026 Outback Sunset Carnival will be held on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August, 2026 at the Longreach Athletic Track at the Longreach State High School Grounds, Plover Street, Longreach. First event Saturday commences at 8am and Sunday at 8am.
- ANQ age limitations and event specifications apply. Competition will be conducted according to ANQ and IAAF rules.
- Athletes in age groups 6yrs & under will receive a participation medallion, certificate & results. Athletes aged 7yrs to U/18 compete for placing awards, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Male & Female. Open and Masters Athletes will receive a gift.
- Enclosed shoes must be worn for all throwing events.
- Spiked shoes may be worn by athletes in age groups 10 years and above. Ages 13 years and above may wear spikes in all laned and unlaned events, jumps and javelin. Spike shoes must only be worn at the start of the event and removed before leaving the track or event area.
- Lane allocation by random draw. With the exception for High Jump, athletes 7yrs to Open 3 trials in field events with top 8 conducting a further 1 trial. 6yrs & Under 3 trials only.
- Entries close at 11pm Monday 10th August, 2026 (subject to change).
- Event Duties. A carnival like this requires a lot of assistance to run each event. As is common with most regional carnivals, clubs who are participating will be given a field area to look after during the carnival.
- Hammer Competitors cannot compete unless signed written confirmation of competency by an accredited hammer coach is provided before the close of nominations. Declarations to be emailed to longreachsunsetcarnival@gmail.com
