KHPS Duty of Care
The Band and Strings ensemble Committee is run by a dedicated team of KHPS parents. It is a sub-committee of the P&C. The Band and Strings program can only exist with the help of parent volunteers. Roles within the committee include President, Vice President (Band and Strings), Instrument Co-ordinator, Secretary, Communications Manager, Treasurer and Ordinary members. (Which we consider extraordinary).
The program also could not exist without the support of parent/carer helpers.
The Duty of Care before and after school is the responsibility of the Band and Strings Committee, their employed conductors and/or parent volunteers.
The following outlines the programs Duty of Care - and what to expect when your child participates in a Band or Strings ensemble.
Morning rehearsals
Children attending morning rehearsals are under the responsiblity of the parent helper and/or conductor. If you arrive early, please do not leave your child unattended.
Friday Beginner Strings group (Session 1) concludes at 8.20am, the children are required to stay in the classroom until supervised playground play commences at 8:30am.
Afternoon Sessions
The parent/carer helper is responsible for the children from 3.00pm to 3.10pm & after 4.10pm.
Children are to go directly to either the PAS (band) or Magee (strings) classroom. Children are not permitted to leave the school premises.
Children will be required to wait outside the PAS or Magee classroom, eat their afternoon tea until they are ready to go inside.
If you are picking up your child/children, please arrive by 4.10pm. Parent helpers/ carers will direct your children safely to where they have to go.
Please note: We will contact you if your child does not show up for their afternoon session, and we have been told they were at school that day. Please let us know if there are more than 2 unexplained absences from rehearsals.
Most importantly - we hope all the musicians have a fabulous experience playing in their band or ensemble. Anytime you would like to volunteer to help with the program, you will be most welcome.
