Sensei Alison Peachey 7th Dan

Sensei Alison has been training with Ishinryu for over 30 years. She is the highest graded female instructor, worldwide. She is the first and only World Karate Federation referee in Ishinryu’s history.

Sensei Alison is currently a World Karate Federation Kumite Referee and Judge, and Oceania Kata Judge, the highest graded Ishinryu referee worldwide, ever. She has officiated at World Championships (2024, Italy. 2019, Chile), Premier Leagues (UAE 2018, China and Japan 2019, Japan 2023), Series-A (Malaysia, 2025) Youth Leagues (UAE 2024, Philippines 2026) and Pacific Games (Vanuatu 2017, Solomon Islands 2023). For over 20 years she has officiated at Oceania, Continental, Open and National championships. To date she has refereed in 13 countries.

Providing guidance to emerging and developing referees, she is a member of Karate Australia's Referees commission, and the chair of Karate NSW's Referees commission.

As a competitor Sensei Alison competed for Australia at the 1999 Oceania Championships (Wellington), winning bronze in her kumite division. For 7 years she represented NSW and was state champion three times (12 minor placings). A national highlight was winning five consecutive kumite bronze medals at the Australian Open. At age 39 (and with two infant children) she became the NSW East Coast University kumite champion.

She has trained on Sensei Ticky Donovan OBE 10th Dan’s summer course in England four times, including the historic 50th anniversary course in 2023. She has instructed at Canadian Ishinryu camps twice. As an elite athlete she participated in five AKF national training camps.

Sensei Alison is a silver (level 2) dojo instructor, as accredited via Sport Australia / AIS.
