Hi Impulse sailors,
Our annual Training Weekend is not far away now, 29th - 30th August at Cairn Curran Sailing Club. Always a fun weekend with lots of socialising with fellow Impulse sailors and a lot to learn and practice no matter your skill level. Entry is open to all Vic Impulse members, enter on TryBooking via the Impulse website, please book early for catering purposes. This year we will again limit the number of boats to 30. Spaces are filling quickly so don't procrastinate, get your registration in ASAP!
Welcome at 12noon Saturday, the club will run two or three races on the Saturday afternoon, followed by a discussion on what went right and wrong, and a coaching presentation after dinner. Sunday morning we look at boat setups and then roll through some short races to sharpen skills. Leading Impulse sailors will be providing coaching along with our guest coach.
The first completed race of the weekend will be heat 4 of our 2026/7 Traveller's Series.
The fee will be $75 which covers breakfast both days, Saturday dinner, and Sunday lunch. Camping will be an additional $15 for up to two nights inclusive, (Friday night/Saturday night.) If you will be bringing extras that are not participating in the training, (significant other, kids etc.) there is also an extra meals option in TryBooking for the weekend. For those who choose to come up Friday, we will again book the Maldon hotel for dinner.

Impulse Australian Championships 2027
Great Lakes Sailing Club, Forster NSW
Sunday 7th - Saturday 13th February
It's still a little way off but if you're considering travelling up to the Great Lakes for the 2027 Nationals it's probably time to start thinking about it. Sounds like a great venue, camping available at the club, steady sea breezes. More info can be found on the Impulse website here. |

Traveller's Series
Three heats have been sailed so far, Matt Kiely won at Boga at Easter, Peter Kemp at Safety Beach in April and Jon Pulham at Albert Park in June. It's shaping up to be another close series! With 5 drops and three heats sailed so far no one is out of the running.
There's been a couple of additions to the calendar since our last bulletin, the Training weekend will host a heat on the Saturday afternoon, 29th August, and Stawell's Melb Cup Weekend regatta.has been added as a chance to experience the lake before the States next March.

Stawell Yacht Club - Victorian Championships 2027 Labour Day Weekend 6th - 8th March
On the waters of Lake Fyans in the shadow of the picturesque Grampians. Last States we sailed here we had over 40 Impulses, would be fantastic to get another fleet that size. Plenty of camping available at the club, if you'd like a cabin there is a caravan park next door or hotels, houses to rent etc.10 minutes drive away in Stawell. The club is able to guarantee good water levels for us in March. Put it in your diary now!
On the Melbourne Cup Weekend 31st Oct - 1st Nov Stawell run a regattta. We will have a Travellers Heat on the Saturday to give sailors the opportunity to experience the club and the lake. Always a great weekend.

Membership
All entrants into State and National championships as well as training weekends etc. must be financial members of the Australian Impulse Association. (Anyone may enter a heat of the Traveller's series but only members are eligible for prizes).
