The Impulse is an Australian sailing dinghy that was designed by Arthur Caldwell as a one-design racer and first built in 1975. Made from fibreglass or wood it is the ultimate one man or woman monohull. You can make it yourself, get someone else to build it or buy it secondhand.With a very competitive yardstick of 118.5.
Impulses are sailed and raced in many off-the-beach sailing clubs in all states of Australia. South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland hold yearly Impulse state championships and once a year Impulse sailors from around Australia meet in one of these four states to race at the Impulse 4.0 Metre Sports Dinghy nationals.
